Weightless Texas
Key idea
A snap sends the Super Fluke sideways; slack during the pause lets it glide naturally.
How it works
The slender body and forked tail dart with short rod snaps. Giving slack lets the bait glide and slow down. Hook weight and position determine whether it stays near the surface, at mid-depth or falls more directly.
When to use it
Use it around baitfish, above submerged grass, beside open wood or when fish follow without striking. Strong wind and deep water can make control difficult; try a weighted hook before changing the presentation entirely.
How to present it
Give one or two short snaps and immediately return slack. Alternate pauses to test a quick escape against a longer glide. Watch the line on the fall. Rig the body straight, add weight gradually and use rod height to adjust depth. If followers stay below, add weight or allow more fall time.
Common mistakes
A crooked rig spins unnaturally. Avoid constant tension, a hook too small for the body, fishing only one depth and failing to check the plastic after a bite. Changing cadence without controlling depth can take it farther from the fish.
