Quick facts
Best for
Deeper suspended fish
Rigs and retrieves
Snap and pause
Key idea
Rated depth is not automatic: cast, line, speed and rod angle determine where each variant actually runs.
How it works
The bill takes the body deeper while snaps create directional changes. Variants have different sizes and ranges; the model name does not replace checking the specific version. During pauses, buoyancy, temperature and line alter its position.
When to use it
Use near points, breaks, submerged trees and suspended fish beyond a shallow jerkbait’s reach. In shallow water the bill can hit bottom too early. Select for the fish’s layer, not simply the greatest possible depth.
How to present it
Use the first part of the retrieve to reach depth, then add snaps with controlled slack. Count turns or seconds to repeat productive passes. Check the chosen variant, measure pauses and avoid constant bottom contact unless intentional. Observe buoyancy with your actual tackle.
Common mistakes
Avoid choosing size without checking depth, oversized line, constant tension and confusing bottom with a bite. Deep does not mean every deep fish is reachable. Fish suspended above bottom may require a higher path; going deeper in stratified water may enter a low-oxygen layer.
